Saturday Spotlight Challenge #2: Decorate the Tree!

Stamps by DRS Designs: Ornaments Galore K655, Gingerbread Man E040, One Line Merry Christmas B364. Cardstock: kraft, Real Red, CM green, Papertrey white. Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestabilities, Offray red gingham ribbon, Shrinky Dink plastic, shepherd hook earring hangers.

Ready for another Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential? I was amazed at all the wonderful creations on last week's 'Halloween -- NOT' theme; now let's see what you can do with challenge #2 'Time for Trees', sponsored by DRS Designs.

Here's Vicki's description of the challenge: You will need to find a way to "dress up" a plain tree image and make it for any type of Season you'd like. Make a tree with hearts on it, colorful leaves for Fall, etc. Just dress up a plain tree any way you'd like.

I may have fudged a little because my tree was already partially decorated -- I just masked out some of the ornaments and replaced them with my own. The fun part is that these new decorations can also decorate the recipient; they are earrings created by stamping the image on shrinky dink plastic:

What a great way to relive your childhood and create a fun gift in the process! I honestly can't say who enjoyed most watching these gingerbread shrink to half their size -- me or my girls!

If you'd like to see a Halloween version of this project, check out It's All in the Accessories on the DRS blog.

Be sure to stop by the Saturday Spotlight blog to see all the decorated trees. Play along with us for your chance to win a gift certificate to DRS Designs just in time to pick up some brand new releases!
