Marking Spring

Digi image:  From the Heart Stamps 'Spring Medley'. Cardstock:  Kraft, Black, Certainly Celery, Paper Studio 'Sweet Stack' and purple polka dots.  Coloring media:  Prismacolor pencils.  Accessories:  Sizzix embossing folder
Welcome to From the Heart Stamps' I{heart} sketches #62!  This week's fun sketch has the added challenge of no cards allowed:
I chose to create a bookmark with the Stamp of Month 'Spring Medley', but realized that it can also be used a gift tag for Easter goodies, too:
Since I missed the added challenge of coloring on kraft with last week's sketch, I decided to give it a try -- fun, fun!  And it also allowed me to break out the pencils that have been severely neglected in favor of Copics.

Spring Medley was free in April for everyone who participated in March's Stamp of the Month challenge; it is discounted for a bargain $1.62 for a limited time now.  Be sure to join in this month so you will receive May's image for free!  Read all the challenge details HERE.

Congrats, Smarty Pants!

Image and Sentiment:  From the Heart Stamps 'Birdbrain Graduate'.  Cardstock:  SU yellow, Neenah white, Glitz 'Vintag Blue'.  Ink:  Copics, Stardust glitter pen. Grosgrain ribbon:  SU.
Monday means it's time for another fun I {heart} sketch!  This week Sketch 61 has the added twist of coloring on Kraft which I totally spaced (to show my 80s upbringing).  Too bad because I really want to try that technique!
My excuse is that I was so excited to use this adorable 'Birdbrain Graduate' digi to create a card for our eldest who is graduating high school in a few short weeks that I completely forgot about the bonus challenge.  That's OK, though, because you can use just the sketch, too, so join us!
Anyone who has seen the cards I've made in the past few weeks is probably starting to think I only have a couple collections of DP, but this this Glitz pack is SO perfect because navy and gold are the graduate's school colors.

Next card I promise to break out a new DP pack because there are plenty more collecting dust in the craft room!

Friends are There for You!

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop. Our theme this month is Friendship. Our designers are showcasing lots of gorgeous projects.

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win the image that the designer used. And additionally, one commenter on the From the Heart Stamps blog will be selected to win a $5 gift voucher to the store!

If you have arrived from the From the Heart Stamps blog, you are in the right place!

Here is my project, using Rainy Day Birdbrains:
Image and Sentiments:  Digi 'Rainy Day Birdbrains'.  Cardstock:  MFT solid, DCWV 'Citrus glitter stack', Neenah white.  Ink:  Copics, Stardust glitter pen.  Tools:  Spellbinders circle dies.
Sketch inspiration is courtesy of I {heart} sketches #60 where there is still plenty of time to join the fun:

The twist for this week is to add lots of glitter.  The Citrus Stack DP was conveniently glittered and I also added Stardust accents to the raindrops:
Now head over to Jo and see what they have created.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Monday April 7th at 6am, EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday April 9th.

Birthday Spin

Digi image:  From the Heart Stamps 'Birthday Candle Birdbrain'.  Sentiments:  PTI 'Birthday Basics' and  'Birthday Bash Sentinents'.  Cardstock:  SU Wild Wasabi and Baja Breeze, Neenah White, DCWV 'Celebration Stack'.  Ink:  Copics and Memento black.
This card's inspiration is I {heart}Sketches #59 at From the Heart Stamps with the twist of creating an interactive card:
To add a fun 'spin' to this birthday card, I added a wheel that could be spun to show a new sentiment:
The trick as to mount the circle on a center brad.  That was the easy part; the hardest part was sentiment placement.
I really would have liked to use the fun sentiments that accompany this Birdbrain, but my computer skills don't extend to curving digi sentiments!

Here's an 'action' shot, showing the wheel spun in between sentiments so you get an idea of placement:
Fun and (mostly) easy!

Monochromatic Merci

Digi image:  From the Heart Stamps 'French Mustache Birdbrain'.  Cardstock:  Neenah white, kraft, SU navy blue, Glitz 'Vintage Blue'.  Ink:  Copics.
This week's From the Heart Stamps I {heart} sketch#58 had a twist that I discovered was more difficult than expected:  monochromatic.
This is as close as I could get to a single color scheme, using these gorgeous vintage blue patterns.  Guess I'm just not meant to be a single color gal!
It was fun to try, though.

Birdday Heat

Image and sentiment:  From the Heart Stamps 'Birthday Candle Birdbrain'.  Cardstock:  SU Chocolate  and Bashful Blue, DCWV 'Glitter Sweet', Neenah white.  Ink:  Copics.
Ever had one of those cards that just didn't turn out like you visualized?  I fiddled with this card for over an hour, just trying to come up with something that, well, didn't bug me.  I finally went to bed and when I reassessed the next morning it didn't look so bad after all.

Oh, the joys of perfectionism!

I had great inspiration with I {heart} sketches #57:

The twist for this week was dry embossing which forced me to dust off my embossing plates.  I need to do that more often!

On the inside I used one of the many sentiments included in this fun digi set:
I like these sentiments because they are funny without being too mean; it's a fine line sometimes!

Spring Notes

Image:  Stampavie 'Bird on Dogwood Branch'.  Sentiment: PTI 'Autumn Abundance'.  Cardstock:  PTI brown, SU Cool Caribbean, Prima 'Madeline' DP.  Ink:  Copics, SU Chocolate.
Another fun Spring image, this one sent to me by a stamping buddy on Splitcoast.  Thanks, Tracie!

Sketch inspiration was provided by Sweet Sunday Sketch #210:
Today it feels like Spring -- the temperatures are supposed to be close to 70!  Unfortunately, it's back to snow in the forecast for Wednesday.  Sigh.
