Midnight Madness Sketch #55: Walk the Red Carpet!

**Click HERE to view Tuesday Morning Sketch #47**
Stamps: D'amour Allure 'Laura's Love', Papertrey 'Out on a Limb' sentiment. Cardstock: Vintage paper, K&Co. 'Life's Journey', Always Artichoke, GP 110. Ink: Copics, Palette chocolate hybrid ink. Accessories: ribbon, unknown source, long rectangle Nestabilities.

Greetings, everyone and welcome to the last week of our month long Midnight Madness Blogaversary celebration! This will be the last week to get in on the Huge Potluck Blogaversary Candy Giveaway and our May monthly sponsors prize that is being awarded to 5 people! We have had a blast with you at the dance party and the barbecue and now we have one more surprise for our final festivity. For the last week of our gala event we are rolling out the red carpet and are about to embark on a yearly Blogaversary tradition…..... I would like to share with you what the Midnight Madness DT team has been up to and has put together........

In honor of the person who started the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge, the design team unanimously chose to name this very special award the "Priscilla Award". Priscilla has inspired, encouraged, motivated, and stimulated everyone of us in our crafting endeavors. She has been our friend, our mentor, our confident our sister in crafting. She is tireless in her efforts to bring you the best of the best each week and to challenge each and everyone of us to achieve greater heights than we ever thought imaginable. She was humbled by the idea of us coming together to call it the "Priscilla Award", but we as the Design Team thought it was only fitting for the highest honor that someone could achieve on Midnight Madness to be named after our founding individual.

We would like to present to ONE outstanding card/craft person who is represented amongst our GOLD STAR winners of the past year, the coveted "Priscilla Award". Not only that, but it is going to be the "PEOPLES CHOICE". What does that mean....that means that you our friends and weekly players are going to choose the winner this time!!!! Click HERE for the 20 finalist randomly chosen for this honor. You cannot imagine how extremely difficult it was to narrow it down to just these 20 ladies. We have included one of their cards as an example of their work and craftsmanship, but we encourage you to visit their blog before you cast your vote and make your decision to view their outstanding creations. So let the voting begin. Anyone can vote but you will only be able to cast one vote. We will be announcing the PEOPLES CHOICE next week along with our weekly and month end winners.

The voting will last all week, so tell your friends and family to come vote too..

Voting closes Monday May 31st at 8pm PST

PLEASE VOTE FOR ONE

So we hope you will have a glass of Champaign, join in the fun by voting and of course by playing our challenge this week...The design team will be showing off their RED CARPET DESIGNER DRESSES and we invite you to join in. Who are you wearing? I chose to go back a bit to one of the 'classics' of the red carpet dresses, the gorgeous cream creation Kate Hudson wore to the 2003 Oscars. Isn't this incredibly elegant and oh-so-vintage??

Now to this week's Midnight Madness sketch #55...it's "YOUR PICK" Make it fancy, clean and simple, or somewhere in-between. Remember to click on the sneak peek button on the side bar for the following weeks sketch each Friday.

For my card, I went with the CAS sketch while dressing it up with fun DPs. The only embellishments used besides the sweet heart button sent to me by my equally sweet friend, Jacque, are circles punched from coordinating DPs:

CAS Graduation Time

Stamps: DRS Designs 'Graduation background', Papertrey 'Boards and Beams' sentiment. Cardstock: Night of Navy, Papertrey silver, GP110 white. Ink: Night of Navy. Accessories: Stardust glitter pen, satin navy ribbon.

Here's my confession: I wasn't really planning on making this card, but was guilted into it. Eldest DD is graduating from 8th grade today -- hurray! She's a great student and an all-around great kid, but we really weren't planning on making a big deal out of the occasion. After all, it IS only 8th grade, right? I'm all about recognizing milestones, but if we make a big deal about this graduation, what is expected for high school graduation?

Anyway, a friend gave DD a fun card, so I kinda felt like Mom and Dad should, too. Thank goodness for Fall-To Sketch #90 which was great for some quick inspiration. I used school colors and threw in a bit of sparkle:

And just so you know the lack of enthusiasm isn't just mine, DD is still planning on going back to her school next week to help out with the lower grades and other special events. She really is a good kid and obviously not resting on her laurels of completing 8th grade!

It will be an exciting week of activities and we need you to help with our celebration. You may not want to leave the party!!! We will be having door prizes from the comment section in addition to our regular drawings for each of the activities we post. The only requirement is that you have played "ONE" of our challenges in the past year and post your comment. That's it!! You’ll want to log onto the Midnight Madness Blog, grab your crafting supplies, and party with us each day for a chance to win.

If you are new, just join us for MMSC53!

For my card, I went with the pure CAS sketch, using fun DPs to dress up the effect. The image is faux watercoloring with a bit of flocking because all dandelions (even pink ones!) are fuzzy, right?

Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #53: You're Sweet!

Stamps: Flourishes 'Strawberries', Papertrey 'Green Thumb'. Cardstock: Real Red, Always Artichoke, Daisy D's 'Small Floral - Antique Black', Papertrey White. Ink: Memento black, Copics, white gel pen. Accessories: Nestabilities ovals, red brads.

This week's Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #54 is sponsored by There She Goes Stamps:
I didn't have any TSG stamps, so I used a Flourishes image I've been admiring ever since it came out. Thanks, Leslie, for letting me borrow your stamp! I used the oval of the sketch to highlight the main portion of the image, but popped two of the leaves out of the white for a little extra dimension:

Birthday Butterflies

Digi images by Aisne's Creations 'Butterflies', 'Floral Mix'. Sentiment: 'Happiness Butterfly Greeting'. Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip, SU 'Afternoon Tea', GP 110 white. Ink: Chocolate Chip, Copics. Accessories: Martha Stewart scallop border punch, Stamping Bella gems, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Stardust glitter pen.

Yesterday was eldest DD's 14th birthday. For some reason, coming up with card ideas was especially tough this year. I knew she was a fan of butterflies so I decided to go with these amazing digi graphics by Aisne's Creations. Unfortunately, our printer cartridge is not cooperating (anyone else have issues with refills?) and the colors are coming out, well, strange. No time to go shopping for a new cartridge, so I attempted re-colorizing with Copics. It didn't turn out too bad, so I forged on to alter the flowers on the SU DP to coordinate a little better, too!

The sketch is Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge #111 and the use of a quote was inspired by Order of Opus Gluei challenge 'Can I Quote You?'.

To tie the quote into the birthday theme, I used this PTI sentiment for the inside:

Happy birthday, big girl!
