Yesterday was eldest DD's 14th birthday. For some reason, coming up with card ideas was especially tough this year. I knew she was a fan of butterflies so I decided to go with these amazing digi graphics by Aisne's Creations. Unfortunately, our printer cartridge is not cooperating (anyone else have issues with refills?) and the colors are coming out, well, strange. No time to go shopping for a new cartridge, so I attempted re-colorizing with Copics. It didn't turn out too bad, so I forged on to alter the flowers on the SU DP to coordinate a little better, too!
The sketch is Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge #111 and the use of a quote was inspired by Order of Opus Gluei challenge 'Can I Quote You?'.
To tie the quote into the birthday theme, I used this PTI sentiment for the inside:
Happy birthday, big girl!

ReplyDeletePerfect 14 yo card. So fun and classy at the same time. Love your save. Very clever. Those quotes are both great too. Thanks for playing with us at Opus Gluei.
ReplyDeleteHi Jess, i hope your DD had a great birthday. Your card looks really pretty. I also have this DP, but somehow I know not to use it properly. I like how you used it.
ReplyDeleteTeenagers are a very tough group to make a card for; but this is perfect - sophisticated (but not too much), lovely, and warm. I hope she loved it! I sure like it. I feel your pain on the ink refills, I swear my printer guzzles the ink and yeah, my results have sometimes been hit or miss. I'm going to "borrow" your use of markers to try and save the day!
ReplyDeleteI agree about teenagers! Your card is so very very beautiful! I'd love to see you try out for my DT.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the 3D butterfly!!
