Tuesday Morning Challenge #63: Trick or Treat!

Digi Stamps by Deedee's Digis 'Handmade with Love'.  Cardstock:  Black, Tangerine Tango, glitter green and orange, GP 110 white, Paper Studio 'Happy Halloween' and 'Cobweb'.  Accessories:  silver pen.

Welcome to Tuesday Morning Challenge #63!  This week's challenge sponsored by Deedee's Digis and is a technique challenge to creat a treat container.

As soon as I spotted the adorable 'Handmade with Love' set, I remembered the fun Halloween version of Peep Jars and knew they'd be the perfect combination.  I paper pieced this jar image, using the Halloween sentiment DP for the jar and glitter orange for the topper:

What I didn't realize is that M&Ms no longer come in the vibrant Halloween colors (more like dull Fall colors) and Peep ghosts are almost as scare as real spooks! Eventually I found a limited supply of ghosts and settled for less vibrant images; 'Ghostly S'mores' were the result.

Here's the jar recipe:

Layer all ingredients in a 1 quart jar (wide-mouth is easiest): About 2/3 of 1 sleeve crushed graham crackers, circle of Ghost Peeps (I used 6), fill center of ghosts with remander of graham crackers, 1 1/2 c. M&Ms, 1/3 c brown sugar.

Attach a card with these baking instructions:

Ghostly S’mores
Directions: Empty jar contents into a bowl. Snip ghosts to bits with kitchen shears or cut up with knife. Return bits to mixture and mix well. Melt 1/2 c plus 2 Tbsp. butter, add 1tsp vanilla. Pour over dry mixture; mix well. Pat into greased 8x8 baking dish. Bake at 350 for 15 -25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
Option 1: Leave ghosts whole; combine remainingingredients and place the ghosts on top. Bake as directed.
Option 2: Omit vanilla, bake and serve warm over ice cream or use blender to mix with ice cream like a Blizzard.

  11. This is such a cute idea, I had to make some right away! The jars look adorable.
I just made the recipe & HELP! It seemed like WAY too much butter. Is it correct-a whole stick plus 2 Tbsp? Mine came out way too greasy. Just checking~
    Thanks a bunch.

    1. Honestly, it's been a while since I made these! I looked up the recipe and found most of the versions call for 1/2 cup butter, so that would only be two sticks. Maybe just cutting back that much would help??
