Tuesday Morning Sketches: Pocket Fairy

Stamps: Paper Pretties 'Garden Fairy'. Cardstock: Glitz 'Maya' DP, Papertrey white. Ink: Memento black, Copics, Night of Navy, Melon Mambo. Accessories: Martha Stewart doily, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Bazzill dotted white organdy, green grosgrain, SU tab punch, long rectangle Nestabilities.

This week's Tuesday Morning sketch is actually a fold technique, the Diagonal Pocket card (Splitcoaststampers' tutorial HERE), sponsored by Paper Pretties. My card is a variation on the original technique so that the card opens to reveal additional space for personal sentiments:

Paper Pretties just celebrated its grand re-opening with the release of 12 new stamp sets, including this adorable 'Garden Fairy':

Her wings are very sparkly with Dazzling Diamonds, but I have a terrible time photographing glitter -- any recommendations so the sparkle actually shows up in photographs?

This sweet stamp is only $8 and comes with five sentiments which I used to help decorate this card's various enclosures, including a bookmark and tabbed sentiment sheet:

This project also qualifies for this week's Order of the Opus Gluei challenge #68: You've Got It, Move It! Jana and Rosemark challenged us to 'bust our stashes', that is to actually use some of our neglected supplies. I dusted off my Martha Stewart doilies that I've been admiring from afar, as well as this pink dotted ribbon that I've had for years!

Be sure to admire the TMS Design Team's spin on this week's technique:

  1. Oh Jess she is just beautiful, and all the sentiments depict her look so well, I love the gorgeous colours and am in awe of your super gorgeous creations, I received the House Mouse stamped images today, wow wow you have an incredible stamping technique, not a blemish anywhere, the card you made me is up for all to see, I love it, and in real life the card is so alive with colour artistry and definition in the colouring. I cannot wait to start colouring these beautiful designs but at the same time in a bit of fear with the thought of it. Thank you so very much my dear friend. Melxx

  6. Beautiful, so much detail on this one. This fold looks complicated, but love the pockets especially to add a book mark.

  8. You are probably getting tired of reading my - this is awesome and you're quite the artist comments but you're going to just have to deal wtih it because well, it is and you are! LOL

Love this - it has a fun, sweet, and happy vibe to it. Of course, the coloring is fanastic! I do think that this is a good value considering all the usage you've already gotten out of it with the bookmark and other embellishments and by the way, excellent doily use! I've gotten so crazed with them. They're just the right size for me to make something quickly enough to enjoy it and I actually need just two more (I think) to fill up the shadow box.

Anyway, thank you for participating with us at Opus Gluei, it is always a pleasure to see your project!

  10. Thanks for the nice comment over at my place. I love your little fairy, great color combo,it's funny how we buy things and then are reluctant to use them. I do the same thing :-)

  11. love it - all the pieces and this fairy is adorable. photographing glitter is really a pain. I tend to look through my camera view finder and move the card in the light until I see more of a glint, then I snap. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!!

  12. Your card is darling. I love that you used one of the doilies. It is so pretty on the card. Your coloring is very pretty on this little pixie. Or is she a fairy. She a cutie pie either way. I love that you play with us at OPUS GLUEI. Thank you so much.
