My World

Sentiment:  My Favorite Things 'Vertical Greetings'.  Cardstock:  SU Night of Navy, Farmhouse 'Fair Skies' DP.  Ink:  Night of Navy.  Vintage button.
My Favorite Thing's Weekly Sketch Challenge #165 inspired this card with its clean and simple lines.

Once I decided on the sentiment, the DPs came together quickly thanks to this vintage DP stack.

Guess what required the most time, even longer than assembling the card?  Choosing the button!  You might understand why when you realized I have three of these gorgeous antique Bell jars with original tin lids that are filled with vintage buttons:

Thanks, Mom, who passed these along to me when she inherited them from her mother-in-law.  They are the perfect decoration that is also a great card embellishment source!

I think this button is the best choice because not only is it masculine enough for a guy card, but still has the original thread:

Fun day -- what beats papercrafting AND being able to play with vintage buttons??

Under the weather?

Image and sentiment:  My Favorite Things Pure Innocence.  Cardstock:  SU Soft Sky, imaginethat textured blue, DCWV 'Garden Party', Neenah white.  Ink:  Memento black, copics.
Today's card was inspired by Sweet Sketch Wednesday's challenge.  You can choose any sketch from their archives and I chose this one:

For once I actually used the sketch as Imke drew it -- no rotation!

Feeling Better?

All materials (except SU base cardstock) were given to me by talented kit maker, SCS MommaPatti, for a kit swap way back in October 2009.  Thanks, Patti!

Clearing clutter from my craft room has been a major, on-going process, but the upside is that I keep finding treasures, like bin after bin of awesome kits from long-ago swaps!  My goal is to actually start creating with these all-in-one kits which would have the bonuses of a) being frugal and b) clearing clutter.  Win, win!!

This week I was inspired by Sweet Wednesday's Sketch #7:

Considering the number of kits I have, it should only take me about three years to explore and create from them all!

Merci!

Digital Stamp:  From the Heart Stamps 'French Moustache Birdbrain'.  Ink:  copics.  Cardstock:  SU navy, Glitz 'Vintage Blue', Neenah white.

Isn't this French Moustache Birdbrain a cutie with continental flair?  And even better -- this digi is FREE just by liking From the Heart Stamps on Facebook!

Another fun sketch challenge, too:  Sketch 54.  It's a great way to use up scraps of DP and to earn a $1 credit to From the Heart Stamps just by entering!  I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to incorporate my image.

Since it seems like I can never have too many thank you cards, I'm sure I will be using this image and sketch many more times!

I'm Back!

Stamps:  digi From the Heart Stamps 'Candle Birdbrain'. DP:  DCWV 'Celebration Stack'.  Cardstock:  Neenah white,  SU Wild Wasabi and Bayou Blue.  Ink:  Copics.

It's difficult to believe I've been absent from the blogging world for almost two years!  I'd like to say that I've gotten my act together and our (not-so) new house is now in perfect order, but really it just boils down to I've missed creating cards and the inspiration  I gain from participating in challenges, like FTHS sketch challenge 52 which inspired the above card.
Sketch052.jpg
So here's what finally lured me back:  the From the Heart Stamps' Progressive challenge!  I received the Candle Birdbrain digi featured on the above card for FREE because I participated in the January challenge with the initial free image:

Digi:  From the Heart Stamps 'FREE Kitten and Heart'.  DP :  Memory Keepers 'Love Struck'.  Ink:  Copics.

The good news is that you can still join in the progressive image by purchasing the Candle Birdbrain image (which includes a bonus 16 hilarious sentiments like the one I chose) and linking your project.  Next month you'll receive the March image for free!  Go HERE for details.

Yes, I will stamp for free digis, especially digis as cute as these!
