Digital Fun for Fall

I've recently discovered the world of digital stamps and images -- how fun! It's a steep learning curve since my computer and I don't always get along, but it amazes me how versatile they are not just in the digital realm, but also for papercrafting.

This tag is for Challenge #20 to create a tag with buttons and is composed of all digital images; even the center panel of printed paper is digital. Best all -- the images are free! Grungy All the Way!

Deb, a technique queen, hosted a Grunge/Shabby Chic Letters and Numbers Tag swap on SplitCoast Stampers which drew an amazingly talented group of swappers. This was my first try at the Grunge style and I had a blast experimenting with several Tim Holz style techniques. Maybe my tags are evidence of this?

I went with the alphabet theme, choosing a letter for each tag and then including as many items beginning with that letter as my supplies allowed. Here's 'T' for travel, tickets, true, and tree with more of that real Paperbark:




'M' is for music, memories, map, and Mom:

'L' is for letter, leaf, laugh, line, life, and live:

'F' is for ferns, fly, flower, fine, and forever:

'C' is for create, cat, Chicago (postmark on the stamp), charm, crown and clock:

How fun to experiment with alcohol inks, crackle paint, distressed stickles, and fragments! Now I can justify all those purchases, right??

Going Grungy to a 'T'

I'm branching out, attempting new styles and this tag is a collage of those attempts! Let's see: I used the alcohol inks and supplies I've had collecting dust for over a year on the acrylic letter 't', a acrylic fragment to create the 'treasures tile', distressed embossed the tree, and used cracked paint under the clock image.

Not only did living on the grunge side give me inky fingers, but it also gave me a chance to use items that normally don't appear on my cards. See the paperbark birch strip running underneath the Prima?

In case it's not too obvious, my letter for this tag is 'T' as in time, tree, today, and treasures.

Tag Time Challenge at DRS Designs

Today's challenge on the DRS blog is to create a card featuring a tag. This tag is stamped with the uplifting sentiment 'What Cancer Cannot Do' and can serve as a bookmark as well. Don't you love cards that are also a gift?

The card layout was inspired by a sketch from the June 2006 page maps. You can visit their site here and download dozens of great card (and scrapbook) sketches.

I stamped the title of the prayer on a strip to hold the bookmark in place and the prayer itself on a long rectangle Nestie accented with the same leaves as the card. The leaf pattern is one of DRS Design's Latest Releases. It's so elegant and coordinates perfectly with their Silhouette Branch and the Octagon Wording Ribbon Slide .

Awards and Tags

This 'From the Heart' award was created by Mary (my cardz) and showcases one of the cards from gratefulness.org . We could all use a little more gratefulness, right? Well, I'm grateful for blogging friends like Mary!

As far as Tags, here's my first and very fun one: Donelda (Wiggy's World ) tagged me with 'finding your 6th folder of pictures and pick your 6th picture in the folder', then displaying it on my blog. Here it is:

This photo was taken last September during a trip to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. The girls and I were feeding the gigantic and very friendly (at least if you have food!) koi that live in the lake in the Japanese Garden. These gardens are absolutely amazing and I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever in the neighborhood!

Since my blog is still relatively new I don't have a large pool of blogging friends to award or tag, but you can bet I'll hang onto both of these for future fun!
